MAPS stands for Mentors for Academic and Peer Support. MAPS is a college preparation program that is purely managed by former and current UCLA students. MAPS comes every Friday to LASGS to help juniors and seniors with their road to college. MAPS will be helping out students with SAT prep, FAFSA, college scholarships, and applications. This semester, MAPS will start helping students starting Friday February 8th from 3 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. These workshops  will be held in Ms. Mahmood’s class.

College Head Start Program

Hi Everyone,

I’m emailing you to inform you that we will be having an orientation for our College Head Start Program December 18th at CARECEN at 5pm. We are entering the second phase of our program. The first part we focused on helping students with their college applications. Next year students will begin to receive confirmations from the colleges they applied to if they got accepted or not. For many of our students the first challege is the application process now comes the real question. How are they going to pay for it? For the second phase we will be focusing on Fafsa applications, Dream Applications for students who are undocumented, and helping students look for scholarships. We will also focus on creating a financial plan so they can begin to learn how to budget themselves and begin to estimate how much money they need to raise. The orientation will be in December and the actual workshops will begin in January. We want to meet beforehand and find out what the students schedules will look like for next year so we can work around their schedule and meet on a day that can work for everyone.

If anyone has any questions about the program please feel free to contact me or you can reach me at the office 213.385.7800 x137. I can also do presentations if you need me I can take as little as 10min or if you need me to drop off fliers I can do that as well.
