Messi wins the Ballon D’Or for the third time!!!

                    By: Dahlia Perez

Today FIFA held the gala where they named the best male and female player in the world, coach of the year, the FIFA/FIFPro award and other awards. This is one of the most anticipated of the year for soccer fans because they get to see what player is the best at they do: soccer.

According to FIFA.com, this is what Messi had to say about the award, “I’m very proud to have won it three times, especially one after the other. It’s hard to win one, let alone three. I’m very happy and this award gives me as much pleasure as the first.”

The Ballon D’Or started in 1956 and up to now, only four players have received this award three times. Now, Messi is added to the list because this is the third time in a row that he wins. He dedicated the award to his teammate/friend Xavi Hernandez because he said that their friendship is beyond any award.

Messi is very young, just 24 years old and has more to accomplish with his national team, Argentina and his club, FC Barcelona. Let’s see if he wins next year.
